I am privileged to assume the post of Director of National Institute of Technical Teachers' Training and Research, Kolkata, the oldest technical institute of its kind in the country. This Institute has already made a mark in carrying out active research and dissemination of knowledge in respect of innovative and improved methods of teaching technical subjects.

At present it has been conducting 3 M.Tech Programmes, running two extension centres - one in Guwahati, Assam and the other in Bhubaneswar, Orissa and offered short term training programmes in 2008-09, which were attended by 1850 technical teachers across the country.

With the advice and assistance of faculty members, officers and other employees of NITTTR, Kolkata it will be my endeavour to expand the current scope of activities of the Institute and elevate its reputation to a higher level in the foreseeable future.
