Activities

The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the core Department of the Institute. The Department has highly qualified faculty members drawn from the premier Institutions of the Country. The Department has been a pioneer in imparting Long Term and Short-Term Training Programmes in the broad areas of Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering mitigating the needs of the Polytechnic, Engineering and Pharmacy College teachers of the Eastern region in particular and the Country in general. The committed faculty members of the Department are actively involved in research both in the emerging area of Technology and pedagogy encompassing the frontier areas of Electrical Drives, Measurement and Instrumentation, Medical Electronics, Micro controllers, PLCs, Control Systems and Innovative Research in Technical Education in addition to rendering consultancy services to the Technical Institutions of the Country and handling various educational projects supported by Industries, Governments and International bodies.

From the Academic Year 2005 - 2006, Department has started a full time M.Tech. programme on Mechatronics Engineering to cater the growing demand of the Automation Industries.

Infrastructure

To keep pace with the development in the frontier areas of Technology specially in the field of system Automation, Control and Cybernetics the Department has developed well equipped laboratories with state of the art facilities to impart appropriate practical skills in Technical Teachers Training and to support Post Graduate and Research Programmes.
The Department has the following Laboratories:
  • Mechatronics Lab
  • Sensors and Transducer Laboratory
  • Advanced Control Laboratory
  • Microprocessor and Embedded System Laboratory
  • Internet and Computer Laboratory
  • Process Control and DCS Laboratory

Some of the important equipment available in the Laboratories include PLC, Servo Fundamental Trainer, Microprocessor Controlled Stepper Motor, DC motor system, Direct Digital Control Training system, PC-based Analog and Digital Motor - Control Teaching set, PC based Programmable Controller Teaching set, Pneumatic/Electronic Applications Trainer for PLC, PC based Mechanisms, Robotics Training Systems, Digital IC Trainer, Discrete Component Trainer, Data Acquisition and Process Control Setup, Temperature Controllers, Microprocessor based Water Label Indicator and Controller, DC/AC position Control setup, Linear System Simulator setup, Compensation Design setup, Relay Control setup, 8085/8086 Microprocessor kits, 8051 Micro-controller kit, ADC/DAC/Stepper Motor interfacing, FPGA and DSP Kits.
The Department also have 35 Nos. of Pentium - IV Computers, Laser Printers, Scanner etc. With the above activities the Department is poised to become a leading resource center of the Institute to promote excellence in Technical Educational and Research.

Wish all of you happy and successful career!

You might be knowing that we are going through several changes in our Institute and moving for all round growth and development. Our Institute is at present has campus-wide Wi-fi connections for all M.Tech students, STTP participants, staff and faculty members. We have installed several servers for various routine activities and going to establish state-of-art E-classrooms, High Performance Computer (HPC) lab, digital library etc. in near future. Our institute has also been augmented recently by some young and vibrant faculty members.

We are now having a working Training and Placement Cell for our M.Tech students. We have also decided to go for NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accreditation. Students Alumni Cell strive to create a platform for organizing the alumni events, connectivity and activities such as branding and fundraising.
