Definition

Right to Information means the right to:

  • Inspection of work, documents, records
  • Taking notes, extracts or, certified copies of documents or records
  • Taking certified samples of material
  • Obtaining information in the form of diskettes, floppies, tapes, video cassettes or in any other electronic mode or through printouts where such information is stored in a computer or in any other device subject to relevant provisions in this regard

Objective & Purpose of the Act

Objective/Purpose

To provide available information of the Institute as enshrined in RTI ACT to the Indian citizen on payment of prescribed fees.

RTI Guidelines

The RTI Act, 2005 provides a framework for citizens to access information held by public authorities. Following are the key guidelines:

Application Procedure

Citizens can submit RTI applications to the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the Institute in writing or electronically.

Application Fee

A nominal application fee as prescribed by the Government must accompany the RTI application.

Response Time

The PIO must provide the information within 30 days of receipt of the application (48 hours for matters concerning life and liberty).

Appeal Process

If unsatisfied with the response, citizens can file an appeal to the First Appellate Authority within 30 days.

Exemptions

Certain information is exempted from disclosure under Section 8 of the RTI Act to protect various interests.

Transparency

The Institute proactively discloses information through its website as per Section 4 of the RTI Act.
